Corporate career
Utpal Chakraborty has more than two decades of industry experience, including work as a principal architect at L&T Infotech, IBM, Capgemini and other multinational companies[4]. He later headed the artificial intelligence division of YES Bank[4]. After YES Bank he became Chief Digital Officer at Allied Digital Services Ltd[2][4].
His BPB Publications author page says he has mentored startups, helped institutions such as the IITs with research programmes, and sits on advisory bodies of government, academic and private research institutions[4]. It also notes that he has applied hybrid Agile and Lean methods in different industries[4].
IndiqAI and ExorionAI
Chakraborty is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of IndiqAI, which was previously known as IntellAI[2][5]. A 2024 ICAI speaker profile listed him as co-founder and CTO of IntellAI and Professor of Practice at the VIPS-TC School of Engineering and Technology[3]. He spoke at The AI World Summit in January 2025, where he was listed as co-founder and CTO of IntellAI[8].
IndiqAI describes itself as a multilingual, agentic AI company built in India[6]. Its products include VidyaAI, a personalised learning platform, UltiMeet, a tool for turning meetings into actions, and an energy management system[6]. On his own website Chakraborty describes himself as the creator of VidyaAI and says it generates notes, quizzes and insights for teachers and students, with a focus on rural education[1].
He is also Founder and Chief Scientist of ExorionAI, a company working on sovereign and domain-specific small language models[1]. In November 2025 Bharat Express reported that ExorionAI had developed GAHNA, a small language model for cybersecurity and threat intelligence, and would unveil it at the IIT Bombay E-Cell E-Summit on 11 December 2025[7]. The report said its flagship version, GAHNA CyberMind, is an AI assistant for cybersecurity professionals and agencies, and that ExorionAI built, trained and deployed it on Indian infrastructure[7]. Chakraborty was quoted as saying that with GAHNA, ExorionAI was building cyber resilience instead of relying on borrowed intelligence[7].

His website lists books including Artificial Intelligence for All, Artificial Intelligence and Fourth Industrial Revolution, Quantum Computing and Future, Metaverse and Web3, Rise of Generative AI and ChatGPT, and DeepSeek AI, as well as Hindi-language books on AI and quantum computing[1]. His BPB Publications author page describes him as a speaker and writer on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, Web3 and the metaverse[4].
ICAI's profile credits him with more than 300 technical articles on artificial intelligence, machine learning and quantum computing[2]. His website lists articles on topics including fintech and sustainable finance, AI in banking, and quantum computing and cryptography, along with contributions to World Economic Forum topic pages on fintech and AI adoption in India[1]. He also wrote commentaries on NITI Aayog's 2018 National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence[1].
Teaching and public speaking
According to ICAI, over the past 15 years he has lectured at more than 600 schools, colleges and universities to increase AI literacy among students[2]. He has given a TEDx talk and speaks at conferences on AI and quantum computing[2]. His website states that he spoke as India's representative at the United Nations' AI for Good Summit and was a guest speaker at the G20 India Summit in 2023[1].
He was a Gartner Ambassador for AI, Data and Analytics from 2023 to 2025[2]. His website also lists recognition as Global AI Ambassador for 2022 and 2023 by the Swiss AI network SwissCognitive[1].
