Going Global Ventures and Mayfield
Mark Minevich is president and principal founder of Going Global Ventures (GGV), a New York-based investment, technology and strategic advisory firm[1]. According to the firm, GGV advises public-sector bodies, global enterprises and brands in the US, the EU, the Gulf countries, South America and Japan[1].
His own website describes him as a strategic partner at Mayfield, a venture capital firm in Menlo Park, as well as president of GGV[2]. He was listed with both titles as a speaker at the Milken Institute Global Conference 2025[3]. At that conference he took part in a panel titled AI and the Economy: Transformation and Disruption on 6 May 2025[3].
His GGV biography lists board and advisory roles at companies including DevRev, NukkAI, 1FS Wealth, Corent Technology and Quant.AI[1]. The same biography says he was an early investor in and adviser to DarwinAI, which Apple acquired in late 2023, and an early investor in Infosec Global, which Keyfactor acquired in May 2025[1].
Earlier career
Minevich's GGV biography lists earlier roles as chief technology officer and strategy executive at IBM, vice chair and CTO at the Comrade Group, and chief digital officer and adviser to the CEO at Amelia[1]. It also lists a role as strategic executive adviser to BCG and BCGX[1].
In a November 2023 Spectrum News interview he said he became interested in technology as a boy, and the programme reported that he built a high school science fair project that tried to predict a person's lifespan[5]. In that interview he argued that technology is only a small part of the equation and that AI should be human-centric[5].
Policy and advisory roles
According to his GGV biography, Minevich has been a member of the World Economic Forum since 2020 and has taken part in the G20/B20 digitalisation task force[1]. The biography also describes him as an adviser to the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs on digital government[1].
He co-founded the AI for the Planet Alliance with UNDP, UNESCO and BCG, and co-chairs its steering committee[1]. He chairs the executive committee of the AI for Good Foundation[1]. His website says he co-chairs AI150 at Constellation Research and sits on the board of the International Data Center Authority[2]. Wiley's author note describes him as a senior fellow with the US Council on Competitiveness in Washington, DC[6].
Books and writing
In September 2022 the AI for Good Foundation reported that Minevich had signed a deal with Wiley for a book due in autumn 2023[4]. Wiley published Our Planet Powered by AI: How We Use Artificial Intelligence to Create a Sustainable Future for Humanity in October 2023[6]. Wiley describes it as a practical guide to introducing AI across an organisation, covering business strategy, technology infrastructure, ethical AI and inclusive AI, with case studies aimed at managers and executives[6].
Speaking to Spectrum News about the book, Minevich said AI can be applied to the environment, health care, the economy and urban planning[5]. His earlier books are The CTO Handbook (2004) and Six Billion Minds (2006)[1].
GGV states that he has been a Forbes contributor since 2020 and has published more than 120 articles there on AI and sustainability[1]. His website also lists columns in The Hill, TechCrunch, Entrepreneur and the Observer[2].
