Kieran Gilmurray
Chief Executive Officer, Kieran Gilmurray & Company (KG&Co)
Background and education
Kieran Gilmurray's company biography describes more than 30 years of experience in technology and digital transformation work across several sectors[2]. He holds a BSc (Hons), an MSc and an MBA with distinction, along with several professional diplomas[2]. The ISG AI Impact 2024 speaker page states that his MBA is from Queen's University Belfast, that his MSc is in computer science, and that his diplomas cover business finance, company direction, executive coaching and digital marketing[3].
The same speaker page says he held leadership roles in FTSE 100 companies and built AI and intelligent automation centres of expertise[3]. It describes his work as covering data analytics, automation, AI, process improvement and emerging technologies for medium-sized and global organisations[3].

Books
Gilmurray's first book, The A-Z of Organizational Digital Transformation, was published as an ebook in June 2022[6]. The A to Z of Generative AI: A Guide to Leveraging AI for Business, co-written with Olivier Gomez, followed in May 2024[7].
Agentic AI and the Future of Work: How Intelligent Agents Will Redefine Roles, Skills, and Value, co-written with Gavin Ives, was published by Native Book Publishing in July 2025[8]. How to Build an Agent: The Leader's Playbook for Coding and Deploying AI That Delivers Real Business Results appeared in January 2026[9]. The Executive's Guide to Strategic Intelligence: How Leaders Remove Noise, Make Better Decisions, and Build Lasting Advantage was published in July 2026[10].
Podcast and writing on AI at work
Since 2023 Gilmurray has hosted The Digital Transformation Playbook, a podcast on leadership, AI, strategy and transformation that had published 321 episodes by November 2026[4]. An April 2025 episode, The Surprising Personal Ways We're Using AI in 2025, covered people using AI as a thinking partner, for organising schedules, health plans and travel, and for personalised learning[5].
In a November 2026 article on his website, he introduced the term development debt for expertise an organisation will need in future but has stopped building because junior work has been automated[11]. He argued that the same AI tools can shorten the road to expertise when they coach and challenge people, which makes the outcome a question of workflow design[11]. He set out six questions leadership teams can use to find where development debt is building in each workflow[11].
In another November 2026 article he argued that putting a human reviewer between an AI system and a decision does not reliably improve outcomes, citing research in which human and AI pairs often did worse on decision tasks than the stronger of the two working alone[12]. He proposed a Decision Holder Map, a one-page record that gives each decision in a workflow a single holder, a named job for everyone else involved, triggers for handing over, an accountable owner and a date to check again[12].
