Early career and Microsoft

Adora Nwodo grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, and has said she started using a computer at the age of six when her father brought one home[7]. She holds a first-class BSc in Computer Science from the University of Lagos[1].

During university she took a software development internship at an advertising agency, and she stayed on there until graduation and for a year afterwards[7]. Microsoft hired her in 2019[7]. In a 2022 TechCabal interview she said she first worked mainly on the HoloLens at Microsoft before moving to cloud-related projects[4]. In the same interview she described her role as building mixed reality on the cloud and said she was working on Mesh, a Microsoft platform[4].

Nwodo has said that being active in developer communities and on LinkedIn put her on a recruiter's radar before she joined Microsoft[4]. She was a co-organizer of GDG Ajah and a member of GDG Lagos, and in 2022 she was vice president of the Nigerian chapter of the VR/AR Association[4].

Engineering leadership

LeadDev describes Nwodo as a former VP of Engineering who works at the intersection of applied AI, cloud and platform engineering[1]. According to that profile, over more than 15 years she has built and scaled engineering organizations of more than 80 people and led platform and infrastructure teams through hypergrowth and reorganization[1]. The same profile says her work has included developer tooling, identity systems and governance practices for large distributed systems[1].

Her focus has moved to what changes when AI becomes infrastructure, and how teams can operate probabilistic systems with the same discipline they apply to deterministic ones[1]. She has delivered more than 200 talks at conferences, according to LeadDev[1]. Her Sessionize speaker profile lists her as an advisory board member for DevNetwork[3].

Nwodo also holds an MS in Computer Science with an artificial intelligence specialization from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a certificate from the Stanford Graduate School of Business LEAD program[1]. LeadDev's profile says she is completing an MBA at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business[1].

NexaScale and community work

Nwodo is the founder and president of NexaScale, a global nonprofit tech education community that LeadDev reports has more than 11,000 members across six continents[1]. She has said the nonprofit's main goal is to create programs that help people start and scale STEM careers, with partners for internships, job placement, open-source contributions and hackathons[7]. She has explained that she started it because many entry-level technologists had certifications but no project experience to show employers[7].

She also leads Future STEM Stars, a program that brings STEM education to secondary school girls in Nigeria[1]. The Women in Tech Network named her a winner of its Community Award in its 2022 Global Awards[5].

Books and writing

LeadDev states that Nwodo has written seven books on software engineering, cloud and AI[1]. Her titles include Cloud Engineering for Beginners, Beginning Azure DevOps (Wiley) and Confident Cloud (Kogan Page)[3]. Wiley published Beginning Azure DevOps in 2023 as a beginner's guide to planning, building, testing and releasing software on Microsoft's Azure platform[6].

She has also published articles on software engineering, productivity and career growth on her blog, AdoraHack, and posts developer content on a YouTube channel[3].

In an August 2026 LeadDev article, Your incident response wasn't built for AI, she argued that language models in production break the usual assumptions of incident response because failures are hard to reproduce and often return a successful response with wrong content[2]. She proposed splitting service level objectives into service, behavioral and containment tiers, and wrote that containment is the tier a team actually owns[2].
